I am promoting the OBM Test Drive for the next two weeks. If you would like to opt out of receiving emails about the OBM Test Drive, but would like to remain on my email list, please click here.
Heyy Reader,
My first year teaching I taught in a school in the suburbs of Cincinnati.
It was known in the entire region for being pretty "rough."
As part of the new teacher training program, they required us to have extensive training in a behavior management system called "CHAMPS" (even the highly experienced teachers, that's how bad the behavior was at this school).
CHAMPS is a highly structured approach to classroom management that creates a system for LITERALLY every procedure in your classroom: from sharpening a pencil to asking to go to the bathroom to what to do during group work--it covers it all.
CHAMPS means you have no room for questions about the rules and sets expectations early and consistently.
But as a first time teacher, I had to really think about what every little thing in my classroom would look like without really knowing how a classroom was run from the facilitator side of it.
That training and experiences was not only one of the most memorable and useful of my teaching career, but also for Bohannon Virtual Solutions.
Not only was I creating systems, I was also documenting them. And I was doing it before we even started.
And then, as the year went on, I refined them as I learned new things, received access to different resources, and things changed.
And that prepared me for being an OBM more than I could ever have imagined.
And being a teacher has made me so much better at what I do now because I used many of the same skills then that I use now to take small business owners from running their business by themselves and beginning to feel chaotic to having the right-hand woman they've been needing to manage the day-to-day so they can focus on growth and the future.
And if you want to see the magic of my teaching skills transferred to business in action, check out what my process looks like in the OBM Test Drive.
Talk Soon,
Sammy
